More strikes to hit Westernport
Stevedores will go on strike again this evening at the Patrick Westernport terminal in Victoria.
MUA sources confirmed separate stoppages would begin this evening at 11pm and last until 11pm tomorrow (Saturday) night.
This is part of ongoing action undertaken by the union hoping to secure a new deal for stevedores employed by Patrick.
An MUA spokesperson said the strike was to do with local shifts and arrangements.
"The national negotiating team will meet again with Patricks at the end of the month," she said.
The action is expected to affect loading and unloading of the vessel Iron Monarch, a ship that carries steel between Westernport and Port Kembla in New South Wales.
This latest strike follows a similar 24-hour stoppage at Westernport earlier in the week.
