Sea Cargo Logistics fraudster jailed
The man whose embezzlement caused the liquidation of Sea Cargo Logistics has been jailed for 13 years over a variety of fraud offences as well as a charge of dangerous driving causing death.
In the Brisbane District Court on Friday, Michael George Vidal pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated fraud and one count of dangerous driving causing death.
The court heard that, as financial controller, Vidal had stolen $665,000 from Sea Cargo Logistics between 2005 to 2007 which ultimately caused the bankruptcy of the company.
He then stole $293,000 from his next employer, Sergeant Truck Rentals, and $455,000 from his final employer, LEP Colour Printers.
While working for Sea Cargo Logistics, Vidal was involved in a car accident in which an 86-year-old female pedestrian was killed.
The court was also told that Vidal had forged his parents' signatures to sign their house over to him.
